Meet Josh & Taylor – The Creators Behind JTR Media
We are Josh and Taylor, the passionate husband-and-wife team behind JTR Media. Our photography and videography journey began in 2015 when we made the exciting decision to move to Orlando, Florida.
Originally, we both grew up in central Pennsylvania, attending rival high schools (you could say we were high school sweethearts). We’ve now been together for over 16 years, and we tied the knot in May of 2016. Just a week after our wedding, we embarked on a new adventure by relocating to Florida.
How Photography & Videography Became Our Passion
As soon as we settled into the Orlando area, our love for travel grew even more. We were snapping tons of photos on our iPhones and Josh’s DSLR camera and then sharing them on Instagram. It didn’t take long for us to realize that we could take our photography to the next level with a better-quality camera. That Christmas, we purchased our first mirrorless camera, the Sony a6000. Josh had enjoyed taking photos with DSLR cameras for fun, but we were both eager to explore this new realm of mirrorless photography.
At the same time, we launched our YouTube channel to share our Orlando adventures and travels around the world. Here, we discovered the exciting world of b-roll, which opened up a whole new way of storytelling. We found ourselves captivated by the art of visual storytelling – not just using photos or words but using video to create a narrative. This is where Josh truly discovered his love for videography, while Taylor fell in love with the art of photography. It wasn’t just about capturing a “cool” scene anymore; it was about composition and freezing perfect moments in time.
The Birth of JTR Media
When it came time to launch our business, we wanted a name that reflected who we were, not just a typical photography or videography brand. After much thought, we decided on JTR Media. “J” for Josh, “T” for Taylor, and “R” for Rippey, our last name. The “Media” part represented the broad spectrum of our work, covering both photography and videography.
Officially launched with our LLC in October 2019, JTR Media started as a way to capture memories for families visiting the Orlando area. But our business quickly grew beyond our wildest expectations. Soon, we had the incredible opportunity to capture magical moments such as proposals, Disney Fairytale weddings, engagement sessions, family events, and much more. What started in Orlando has expanded across Pennsylvania, Florida, the United States, and internationally.
Our Journey Continues – Creating Timeless Memories
We never imagined that we’d own a business doing something we love together, but we’re so grateful to have discovered our passion for photography and videography. It’s allowed us to tap into our creative sides in ways we never thought possible. From our roots in Orlando to our travels across Pennsylvania, cruises, and international destinations, we’re here to help you create memories that will last a lifetime.
